NGOs in Senegal

The remarkable SOS Environnement will be our primary resting spot in Senegal.  Working out of one of that country’s novel ecological communities, the NGO harvests algae to produce food, textiles and wax.  The organization employs sixty local harvesters/divers and grows all of its own food (organically!).  Its philosophy is based on the intersection of the environment and culture, of living well and living with the land.  With constant environmental and ecological input from Europe (usually from France) the model community has influenced copycats along the coast.
